Mike Wolf, the owner
and founder of M.T.H. Electric Trains®, got involved in model railroading
when he was a young boy of twelve. With an entrepreneurial spirit and
inherent business savvy, Mike began working as a model train assembler
for a neighbor who manufactured toy trains in his basement. Over time,
Mike began a business relationship with Lionel, and then ultimately went
out on his own. When Mike Wolf established Mike's Train House in 1980,
he had gained extensive and valuable firsthand experience in all aspects
of the industry.
Initially,
his basic mission was to sell model trains to a wide range of railfan
enthusiasts. As Mike's Train House began to grow, Mike's goal was to
provide model railroaders with quality, value, variety, and innovation.
Before long, Mike's Train House became M.T.H. Electric Trains®, and
as the company gained recognition in the model railroading market, it
has clearly established a reputation for providing customers with "Quality
in the Tradition You Remember," at affordable prices.
Today, M.T.H. is
driven to introduce the world of model railroading to as many new hobbyists
as possible, by producing O Gauge, No. 1 Gauge and now HO Gauge trains
and accessories that are unique, appealing, simple to operate, built
to last, and fairly priced. M.T.H. also strives to encourage the enthusiasm
and excitement of long time model railroaders, by presenting an ever-growing
variety of engines, rolling stock, passenger cars, and accessories to
meet the requests of just about any collector, or model railroad operator.
With the model
train industry being as competitive as it is, M.T.H. has adopted a business
philosophy that is in part, based on providing customers with a better
quality product when compared to the same item offered by a competitor
. . . but at a lower price. The business success enjoyed by M.T.H.,
along with the accolades bestowed by a multitude of happy customers,
indicate that this philosophy has worked well.
M.T.H. Electric
Trains® has gone from a very small business operated out of a room in
Mike's boyhood home, to an 80+ employee company, with headquarters located
in a sprawling complex in Columbia, Maryland. M.T.H. now operates as
one of the most technologically advanced model train manufacturers,
dedicated to meeting the variety of customer demands for products and
services . . . while staying "a cut above the rest," in terms of quality
and value.
